Meet Dr. Uyen Chu

It’s not always the fastest time, the biggest lift, or the loudest accomplishment.

Sometimes, it’s waking up at 3:30 a.m. to train before a full day of surgery. Sometimes, it’s choosing consistency when life is busy. Sometimes, it’s letting go of the PR so you can cross the finish line with someone you love.

Meet Dr. Uyen Chu, our MoveRx Peak Performer of the Month.

When we told Uyen she had been selected, her first response was hesitation.

She wondered if her story was “big enough.” She wasn’t sure she belonged among the athletes we’ve featured before.

But to us, Uyen is exactly what a Peak Performer represents.

Uyen has spent her life helping others.

From becoming a surgeon and performing more than 1,000 bariatric procedures to now helping patients prevent chronic disease before surgery is ever needed.

But this story isn’t just about professional excellence.

It’s about showing up.

This year, Uyen’s biggest win was completing the St. Jude Marathon with her love, Bryan. After six marathons, St. Jude had become their dream race. But as race day got closer, Bryan began dealing with health issues that made training uncertain.

So on race morning, Uyen made a choice.

Instead of chasing a personal record, she chose to stay with Bryan, enjoy the course, and cross the finish line side by side.

Her biggest win wasn’t a finishing time.

It was sharing the journey.

To get there, Uyen and Bryan worked with Beau at MoveRx to stay strong, healthy, and prepared.

Running came naturally to them. Strength training was harder to fit in. Beau helped make it realistic, focused, and measurable, giving them the right work for their goals, their weaknesses, and their busy lives.

For Uyen, that data mattered. As a physician and scientist, seeing measurable progress helped her stay consistent and trust the process.

Now, as she enters a new decade and a new age group, Uyen has her eyes on the next goal: chasing a marathon PR in the 60–64 age group with Bryan by her side.
